BRUSHFIRE! is still going strong, but we need some help!

Here in Orlando, we're still hard at work getting BRUSHFIRE! off the ground. This is a Florida anarchist/radical networking and news zine! We just put out the December issue, having produced the first issue in November. We have a growing list of people to receive and distribute, but what we really lack are article submissions and communities to publish BRUSHFIRE! The goal is for this project to be a Florida-wide project, not an Orlando project. So far, for 2008, Orlando is putting out the January issue, then St. Augustine in February, Ft. Lauderdale in March and Miami in April. Please send us submissions, questions, sign up to receive issues and make copies, or whatever you want to tell/ask us to: brushfiresubmissions@gmail.com.

Material to be submitted could include announcements for events (like the South Florida Radical Activist Conference), community reports (very awesome), poetry, stories, interesting news articles, action reports, etc., etc...

The way BRUSHFIRE! works is that each month a different radical community in Florida will put together and publish that month's issue. This is in keeping with anarchist beliefs in the rotation of responsibilities, collectivity and mutual aid. All submissions will be sent to brushfiresubmissions@gmail.com, with the e-mail being transfered to the publishing community each month and the password changed. The list of people to receive copies will also be transferred each month, along with whatever other information is necessary. People who receive copies in the mail will be responsible for scamming/getting copies locally at copy shops, and then distributing them to their local community each month.

We hope that this project will help communities in Florida become better acquainted with each other and the state of this State's movement against the State. It will require people to work together and organize across different communities to transfer publishing responsibility each month. Hopefully this 'zine will help us unite in our struggle for a free and just society!

We're all in this together!

The Brushfire! collective, Orlando (currently)

We also have set up a messageboard as well which can be used for general discussion and organization among the people producing the newsletter For example, if the Tallahassee radical community signed up to put out the April issue, but they aren't going to be able to do it, they would post to the messageboard to work out the problem. If someone wants to ask a general question, it also can be posted to the messageboard.

"What is needed is continuity of effort, patience, coordination and adaptability to different surroundings and circumstances.

"Each one of us must be able to count on the cooperation of everybody else; and that wherever a seed is sown it will not lack the loving care of the cultivator, who tends it and protects it until it has become a plant capable of looking after itself, and in its turn, of sowing new, fruitful, seeds."
